Just a few weeks ago history was made. Not only was there a winner…but a major milestone/accomplishment occurred that fans got to witness. Dusty Baker won his first World Series as a manager and his second overall (won as player, Dodgers 81).
If he’s not a first ballot selection…we’ve made a mistake as fans and as a society. The seventh person to win a World Series as both a player and manager. It took forty years to be added to that list. I’m enjoying knowing that. And I’m sure Mr. Baker is too.
I was also blown away that he actually partied with Jimi Hendrix, back in the day…geez Dusty! It totally makes since, he came in the league at 19 years old. Hendrix was already charting and touring not to mention he pretty much already solidified himself as a future Icon.
Getting back to Mr. Robinson, who at the time was continuing his Civil Rights work across the country during his retirement, as well as other engagements. Enos on the other hand returned to the Carolinas and apparently was married five times…
